If you are looking for an actual list of banks that do not use ChexSystems, here is such a list. For many states, I also give banks in each state that offer
For many states, I also give banks in each state that offer SECOND CHANCE ACCOUNTS which are special restricted bank accounts for people with ChexSystems problems.
Keep in mind that Second Chance Accounts and Regular Bank Accounts are NOT the same accounts. You are better off with a regular bank account — and this is what you should try to open first. However, if you can’t, then look at Second Chance Accounts as your next option.
I’ve compiled as accurate a list as possible, but keep in mind some / many of the entries by state may be a bit outdated, so I cannot guarantee the information.
I’ve tried to update the banks for 2017, but I’ll be the first to admit that many of the banks may have updated their policies regarding ChexSystems (i.e. they may work with ChexSystems now).
As such, you’ll have to find your state and actually, call up the banks and specifically ask OR walk into the account branch and try opening an account.
If you find contrary information on the list that’s NOT accurate, please leave such a comment and I’ll update the list to reflect this as soon as I can.
For the most recent list of non ChexSystems banks (as of 2017), please see our Guide to Legit No ChexSystems Banks which has an updated list for banks accross the US (though, not ordered by STATE and it does not contain ALL the entires on this list by far) and our How to Open a Non ChexSystems Bank Account.
Note that there are some major banks that do offer full checking accounts to people with ChexSystems. Probably the biggest is the BBVA Compass ClearChoice Free Checking account. You can apply online. The awesome thing is that if they deny your application for one of their regular checking accounts, they will offer you their Easy Checking Account, which is a Second Chance account. So it’s likely you can get a bank account this way, even if you have ChexSystems, Telecheck, EWS, and or Credit history problems.
The bank list are listed by state on a MAP and alternatively, a table below if the map is confusing.
